it’s so disappointing that this is coming from people who ship them, too. people on the k_b lj comm are very dismissive about it, all, ‘i love them being cute in the background!’ and i just. THESE ARE NOT SUBTEXTUAL SHIPS WHERE THAT’S THE STANDARD!!!SIGH
And the thing is, I don’t get where the harm is? Like a post card sending thing is like the… most reasonable things I can think of for fans do stuff. I mean, yes I’m glad for what we DO get vs getting nothing but the thing is this: telling people to sit down and shut up doesn’t get you anywhere.
And while I know a lot of people will say, “lol it’s just a shitty tv show about singing teens” AND YES IT IS, but it’s about visibility and making yourself heard.
JFC, I lived for two god damn seasons of Brittana background and I sure as FUCK don’t want them being shoved into that. And while K/BL get better treatment blah blah the same fucking argument we’ve been having for a god damn YEAR,
That’s the reason I find this so disheartening. It’s not a campaign to try and get a non-canon ship made canon. It’s not even just about one ship, although I’m sure some people have their reasons that are more about a ship than the general treatment of queer characters and couples.
I’m probably one of the laziest people ever, and usually I scoff at fan campaigns. But let’s be honest, they seem to be effective. A hell of a lot more effective than just posting on tumblr about it. So why is there so much derision for something that could actually get something done? (This is mostly a rhetorical question, but the sad thing is that some of the derision is coming from people who do ship Brittany/Santana and/or Kurt/Blaine, and do recognize the disparity between the queer couples and the heterosexual couples.)
OH MY GOD THANK YOU I really can’t with the ‘oh they’re canon so I’m good what lack of agency what Glee is just a TV...
